Kanclers Takes a Step Forward - New Brand, Same Us

Kanclers takes a step forward - New brand, same us.

“Kanclers” is taking the next step in its development by presenting a new visual brand identity and the renovated façade of its building at Katoļu iela 7 in Jelgava.

For us, these changes mean much more than a new logo or façade. They tell the story of the development of “Kanclers”, our roots in Jelgava and who we want to be in the future – modern and creative, while remaining true to the values we have built over almost three decades.

From stationery to a diverse retail company

The story of “Kanclers” began in 1997. Starting out in the field of stationery and packaging materials, “Kanclers” has grown into a diverse retail company offering a wide range of products for work, study, creative hobbies, an active lifestyle and the home.

Today, “Kanclers” has two stores in Jelgava – at Katoļu iela 7 and Pasta iela 51/7 – as well as the online store kanclers.lv.

A new look while preserving the essence of Kanclers

At the heart of the new brand is the familiar stylised fountain pen nib – a symbolic connection to the origins of “Kanclers” in stationery retail. At the same time, it represents ideas, knowledge and creativity – values that today extend far beyond the company’s original field of activity.

The new visual identity has been designed to feel warm, creative and functional. Heart-warming red and cosy beige are the brand’s primary colours, complemented by playful orange, idea-inspired red and dreamy blue-green.

Individual visual symbols have also been created for the main “Kanclers” product categories – stationery, hobby supplies, toys and homeware.

In this way, the new brand preserves the recognisable identity of “Kanclers” while becoming more contemporary and more accurately reflecting what the company has grown into over 29 years.

Changes that remain part of Jelgava

Along with the new brand identity, the “Kanclers” building at Katoļu iela 7 has also undergone a transformation. Its façade has been renovated, and the company’s new visual identity has now become part of Jelgava’s city-centre landscape.

“Kanclers has grown together with Jelgava and its people. That is why it was important to us that these changes would not be limited to a new logo. We also wanted to improve our main building and, through its new appearance, contribute to the city. This is our home, our roots and our history, and we see our future development as being closely connected with Jelgava,” says Ilva Mieze, Chairwoman of the Board of SIA “Kanclers”.

The location at Katoļu iela 7 also has a special historical story. Before the Second World War, the Jelgava Latvian Society House stood here – an important centre of the city’s social and cultural life.

Preserving this history has become one of the most significant projects supported by “Kanclers” over the past year. In October 2025, a visual representation commemorating the historic Jelgava Latvian Society House was unveiled next to the “Kanclers” building. The production and installation of the commemorative display were financed by SIA “Kanclers” together with SIA “Prestižs”.

This is one example of the company’s desire to be not only a part of Jelgava’s business community, but also an active part of its social life and urban environment – preserving the city’s history while helping to shape its present-day identity.

Looking towards the years ahead

After 29 years of growing together with Jelgava, the new brand and the renovated façade of the “Kanclers” building mark the beginning of the company’s next stage of development.

“Times change, people’s habits change, and we change as well. But one thing has remained the same – ‘Kanclers’ is a Jelgava company. We want to continue being a place that the people of Jelgava see as their own – a place where ideas are born, celebrations are created, and where you can find things for work and study, creativity and the home,” emphasises Ilva Mieze, head of the company.

“Kanclers” – creatively with you every day and on special occasions.
